He’s scrawny but muscular, has abs, but his arms are NPC-thin; the only one, the oni Arataki Itto is ready for its first banner rerun in Genshin Impact version 2.7!
As the 5-star banner character for the second half of version 2.7, this Geo claymore bearer is one DPS character you shouldn’t sleep on.
In addition to being the leader of Inazuman’s local gang, resident troublemaker, prison connoisseur, and HoYverse’s lovable troubled son, Arataki Itto can seriously pack a punch with his powerful geo-infused attacks.
Here’s why you should pull the first and biggest head of the Arataki Gang!
Yeet a cow on your enemies
If I can’t convince him to pull on Itto because his elemental skill allows him to beat Ushi the cow on enemies, then I don’t know what’s going on.
But joking aside, I have to honestly admit that Itto’s style of play is the most fun in a while. His fast, high-energy cuts, along with his signature Masatsu Zetsugi: Akaushi Explosion! skill is a delight.
You wouldn’t even think he’s a heavy weapons user with the fluidity of his movements.
Not only that, his skill damage is no laughing matter.
Ushi I can hit as hard as the Zhongli meteor, if not more.
Itto’s unique supercharged batteries are also something you don’t want to cover up. His “Superlative Superstrength” buff can be obtained through normal attacks or by yeeting Ushi on your enemies, and with enough stacks it will seriously increase. Arataki Kesagiri — your charged attack sequence.
Itto will also not consume stamina and can gain more interrupt resistance, in addition, the finisher in his charged attack streak will deal very powerful damage.
Itto’s Elemental Blast, Royal Descent: Behold, Itto the Evil!, will infuse your Normal, Charged and Dive Attacks with Geo and will be buffed based on your total DEF. Also, he can gain Superlative Superstrength stacks on the 1st and 3rd hits of his Normal Attack strings.
Itto will have decreased Physical and Elemental resistance for the duration of his blast, but will gain increased attack and attack speed – so it’s a pretty fair tradeoff. You’ll see Itto laughing at his enemies’ ashes before long.
Itto dislikes multi-elemental team compositions.
The best way to get the most out of Itto is to put him in a mono-Geo composition that consists of him, Gorou, Albedo, and Zhongli.
Gorou and Zhongli are essential for an Itto team, as Gorou can boost Itto’s defense while Zhongli’s shield provides protection while also destroying the Geo resistance of nearby enemies. Albedo can take care of the team’s energy needs while also dealing damage off the field.
But if you don’t have an Albedo, Bennett might be the perfect buffer and battery.
It’s important to keep Itto’s energy recharged, because you’ll want to keep spamming his explosion to get its maximum damage potential.
If you don’t have Zhongli or Albedo, some 4-star Itto team comps you can try include:
Itto, Gorou, Noelle, Bennett
Itto, Gorou, Noelle, Barbara
Itto, Gorou, Noelle, Ningguang
Noelle will be your best choice for a shield if you don’t have Zhongli, as her shield also gets stronger with the defense buffs provided by Gorou. While Noelle can also provide healing, she is not as strong as Bennett’s or Barbara’s heals and will take up valuable field time.
If your Bennett is needed by your other team in Spiral Abyss, then Barbara can be a good replacement as a healer and can even improve Itto’s damage by equipping the Thrilling Tales of Dragon Slayers.
Lastly, Ningguang is a good sub-DPS option for an Itto team, as its jade screen provides a 12% Geo DMG bonus. She can also enter the field and deal damage while Itto’s explosion is on cooldown.
I want to decimate my enemies, so I will maximize my defense!
Itto’s selfish DPS kit might mean he’s a little difficult to integrate into a team setup, but he more than makes up for that with his damage scaling as a burst DPS.
Since Itto’s damage depends on its defense, it’s easy to build and you won’t necessarily have to lose your mind in the Husk of Opulent Dreams domain. You won’t have to fight for a decent weapon to give him if his signature weapon, the Redhorn Stonethresher, slips through your fingertips.
His only set of artifacts that works for him (well because It is made for him) is the Husk of Opulent Dreams as it not only increases his defense but accumulates even more defense whenever you hit an opponent with Geo DMG or when you are out of bounds. You can gain up to 24% Defense and Geo DMG increases this way.
But if your Adventure Rank is still not high enough to reach Inazuma, where the Husk of Opulent Dreams domain is located, the 2-piece bonus 4-star artifact set Defenders Will gives you a nice 30 defense boost. %. You can pair it with any other 2-piece set that gives you a bonus ATK or Geo DMG while you wait to get your Husk of Opulent Dreams 4-piece set.
You don’t need to focus too much on ATK, as Itto’s damage comes from his explosion, and the damage he can do in his ultimate is buffed by his overall defense. A great Crit Rate is also quite easy to achieve as it goes up with Crit Rate.
The stats you should look for would be DEF% on your Sands, Geo DMG Bonus on your Chalice, as well as Crit Rate or Crit DMG on your Circlet. For substats you should prioritize Crit Rate or Crit DMG as well as DEF% to increase your overall damage. Don’t forget to get some energy cooldown too so your blast is ready to use cooldown.
For weapons, Redhorn Stonethresher is obviously the best in Itto slot as it goes up to Crit DMG and has a passive tailored to it.
But if, for example, you missed out on the 50/50 weapon banner or spend little, the next best 5-star weapon for Itto is Wolf’s Gravestone, followed by Skyward Pride.
While the stats of these weapons aren’t ideal for Itto, they can still help increase his damage output. Wolf’s Gravestone’s atk boost is pretty good, while Skyward Pride’s Energy Recharge boost will help with your uptime.
But if you don’t have those 5-star generalist claymores, the next highest-paying 4-star option for Itto is the Serpent Spine Battle Pass weapon. With a Crit Rate substat and a passive that increases your damage, you can’t go wrong with that. Just get the much needed defense from your artifacts.
For free-to-play players who don’t like unique weapons, craftable Whiteblind is Itto’s best free-to-play slot.
It goes up with DEF% and increases its ATK and DEF with each hit of your normal or charged attacks by up to 24% (48% if you have it at refinement level 5).
Itto’s kit is pretty easy to pick up and it’s super fun to have. You won’t be bored by his characterization or his over-the-top personality, and you know that both the developers and his voice actors had fun bringing him to life.
He’s also a great DPS, and while his premium team can be an expensive investment, you won’t lose much and can get almost the same results with a 4-star support team.
Overall, you won’t regret using your Primordial Treasure to catch this oni wonder.
With Yin comes Yang
Joining Arataki Itto in his banner is his deputy Kuki Shinobu, a 4-star Electro sword wielder.
You see, Itto may be the boss, but Shinobu is the glue that holds the whole gang together. She is the voice of reason on the team, and many of her specialties can help them in a pinch.
She is also the one who always gets Itto and the others out of prison. Let’s just say that without Shinobu, Itto would be a goner.
While Shinobu and Itto aren’t exactly a great combination in terms of gameplay, she’s a great addition to any other team as she can heal and deal damage off the field.
She can fit very well on Electro-Charged teams as a healer or as the Superconduct trigger for Physical DMG teams with Cryo characters like Eula or Rosaria.
Arataki Itto and Kuki Shinobu will be available to order from June 21 to July 12.
