When is Amazon Prime Day 2022?

Amazon Prime Day is back, baby, and it’s returning to its usual July time slot. On June 16, Amazon announced that the two-day shopping event will take place on Tuesday, July 12 and Wednesday, July 13 of this year, with early bird deals starting on June 21.

For those who haven’t been with us last year or the year before, Amazon has decided not to hold their Prime Day events in July as they usually do, opting to host the shopping event in October 2020 because of the global coronavirus pandemic and in June 2020. 2021, citing concerns about transportation and the impact of the Olympics.

This is the first year that the event moves from the traditional Monday and Tuesday to Tuesday and Wednesday. It’s also the first time we’re seeing the first deals this, well, early. In previous events, we’ve seen early bird deals drop about 10 days before the main event.

Apple deals are notoriously hard to come by, and while we don’t expect to see many early Apple deals, some have already surfaced on Amazon’s website. That includes iPhone 11 cash and AirPods pro with Magsafe charging case, among several others.

Do you need Amazon Prime to buy Apple Prime Day deals?

Sadly yes. You must be a Prime subscriber to participate in Apple Prime Day sales. It’s not called Prime Day for any ancient reason.

An Amazon Prime subscription costs £7.99 a month or £79 for a year. Signing up couldn’t be easier, all you have to do is go to the Amazon Prime landing page and enter your details.

Savvy shoppers who don’t already have a Prime membership will want to sign up for a 30-day free trial. This will still give you access to the sale. You’ll want to do this in early July, however, because it only lasts 30 days. When you’re done shopping, just cancel your subscription and you won’t be charged. Thank us later.

What to expect from Apple’s Prime Day offerings in 2022?

Nothing is off the charts when it comes to Prime Day sales, and that goes for the normally sales-averse Apple as well. Expect to see virtually every device in the Apple ecosystem for sale, including iPhones, iPads, Apple Watches, AirPods professional headphones, and even AirTags for sale.

With Apple recently releasing a new MacBook air with an M2 chip, scheduled to launch in July 2022, we now expect to see some price cuts on the current MacBook air 2020, which is already on sale (£919, United).

The big question is, will newer devices like the latest iPhone 13 pro and iPhone SE, the fifth generation iPad air M1 or even the latest Mac Studio be on sale? We are quietly confident. Last year we saw the new iPhone 12 pro get a sweet price reduction, so don’t be surprised if the 13 gets one too.

Last year’s best Apple deals in the UK

There’s no better way to predict what kind of discounts we’ll see on sale than by simply turning back the clock and looking at last year’s Prime Day deals on Apple gadgets.

The 2021 sale saw buyers save a massive £140 on the iPhone 12 (£619,, with Amazon slashing from £849 to just £709 last year. Expect similar price cuts for the iPhone 13.

We’ve also seen the Apple Watch Series 6 (£332.81, get a generous price cut, dropping from £379 to £329. With a new Apple Watch, expect the older model and current get a good discount.

Those looking for a new MacBook should also keep their eyes peeled this Prime Day, as the 13-inch Apple MacBook Pro with M1 chip (£1,053.66, received a £147 price cut, reducing the price to £1,152 last year.

Whatever you’re looking for this Prime Day, it’s going to be a great time to get a new Apple device.
