Genshin Impact version 2.8 will feature the long-awaited 5-star Anemo sword-wielding banner and fan-favorite Inazuman wanderer (not Scaramouche), Kaedehara Kazuha.

He is an incredible support that can improve your elemental damage, but he can also be a formidable damage dealer when needed.

But you truth need me to convince you to do the most anticipated character reprise in Genshin Impact history?

Well, here’s that last push you need if you’re still thinking twice about getting Kaedehara Kazuha!

Goal within reach

While Kazuha’s poetic and serene nature makes him seem like a mellow character, don’t be fooled.

He can compose beautiful haiku and destroy your enemies as easily as he breathes. He is a samurai (wanderer) for a reason.

He had one of the most extreme glo-ups in Genshin Impact story — a real underdog that took everyone by surprise.

What was once a character being ignited for being a “5-star sucrose” has suddenly surpassed other 5-star meta, becoming an absolute must on the higher floors of Spiral Abyss.

In addition to having a fun and unique playstyle, Kazuha’s kit is geared towards increasing your team’s elemental damage while serving up a good portion of Anemo DMG on its own.

Kazuha’s Elemental Ability, Chihayaburu, allows him to suck up enemies with a vortex-like Anemo leap, which can spin other elements, and swoop down to deal a devastating amount of pure or infused Anemo DMG.

His skill can also scale newer and heavier enemies better than Venti, and while his Crowd Control can’t compare to the Anemo Archon, he can CC more consistently.

Not only that, Kazuha also has the same dive multiplier as Xiao, which means he can do a ton of damage.

Another similar thing that Kazuha has with Xiao is that he can use his ability while gliding, which helps a lot in exploring the map.

But the biggest selling point for Kazuha is her Elemental Burst Kazuha bar. This self-created technique summons a whirlwind of Anemo, which, when infused with your main DPS element, can also deal additional elemental damage over a wide area of effect.

Your passives are also designed to increase your damage.

The most important is his A2: Poetics of Fuubutsuwhich causes Kazuha to increase her elemental damage bonus by 0.04% for every point of her total Elemental Mastery when her preferred element is rotated with her ability or her explosion.

Which characters work best with Kazuha?

As an Anemo character, Kazuha can easily fill a support or dub-DPS role in your team.

That said, Kazuha is the default sub/support in Hypercarry teams. If you want to see huge numbers of damage, having this wandering swordsman in your composition will help you a lot in your quest.

Here are some of my favorite premium teams with Kazuha as sub-DPS and swirl buffer:

  • Raiden Shogun, Kujou Sara, Bennett, Kaedehara Kazuha

  • Hu Tao, Xingqiu, Thoma/Zhongli, Kaedehara Kazuha

  • Kamisato Ayato, Yun Jin, Sangonomiya Kokomi/Zhongli/Bennett, Kaedehara Kazuha

  • Kamisato Ayaka, Shenhe/Rosaria, Sangonomiya Kokomi/Mona, Kaedehara Kazuha

The logic behind these hypercarry team compositions is that Kazuha greatly increases your main DPS elemental damage when you spin your element.

But if you’re not a Dolphin (halfway to becoming a whale) like me, Kazuha is by no means stuck behind a 5-star premium team. He can work well with your favorite 4-star damage dealers and can even be his own main DPS if he so chooses.

How to build Kazuha

To maximize Kazuha’s potential as your support, you need to hone your Poetics of Fuubutsu passive. This means that you need to accumulate as much Elemental Mastery as possible through your artifacts and weapons.

You also need to equip it with a 4-piece Viridescent Venerer set to take full advantage of the artifact set’s passive, which further increases its Swirl DMG by 60%.

The 4-Piece Set also lowers the opponent’s Elemental Resistance to the Whirlpool infused element by 40% for 10s.

This completes Kazuha’s kit on a top-tier support character, as, again, her A2 passive increases her elemental damage.

As such, you can go ahead with a full Elemental Mastery build, which means you should look for a core Elemental Mastery stat for your sands, chalice, and hoop.

But if you also want to make Kazuha a secondary/major DPS, you can choose to stack EM through his artifacts’ substats, and aim for %ATK sands, Anemo DMG Bonus chalice, and a Crit Rate/Crit DMG circle.

For weapons of course it is ideal to get your best 5 star slot which is Freedom Sworn but it is also quite friendly to Kazuha’s F2P.

You can craft the Iron Sting sword, which ascends with Elemental Mastery, as your support and sub-weapon of choice. This weapon’s high refinement can increase the wielder’s damage by up to 12% for 6 seconds when dealing Elemental DAMAGE.

Other support weapons you can use are:

  • Sacrificial Sword

  • Sword of Favonium

But you can also choose to let him use these weapons when you choose to make him your primary damage dealer:

  • Mistsplitter Reforged

  • the black sword

  • Black Cliff Longsword

Kazuha is an amazing unit to have in the game simply because he is an all-rounder that can give you high returns with little investment. He’s a necessity for your teams, and frankly, it would be a mistake to ignore him when you’re shooting to maximize your damage.

Kazuha appears in a dual character banner alongside the 5-star Catalyst Pyro character Klee, who is getting her second rerun. Both characters will be available to order from July 13 to August 1.
