A great pair of headphones is as essential as your phone, keys and wallet; a modern everyday essential that would make your day gray if you were without.

Whether you’re finally tuning into that must-see podcast all your friends are non-stop texting about, want to get lost in your favorite artist’s latest album, or just need a decent noise-canceling pair for video calls, these tiny pieces of technology are the things most of us can’t do without.

The good news is that there are thousands of designs out there, so you’re sure to find the style that’s right for you. They can be in-ear, in-ear or wireless for true freedom (useful for commuting and training). They also come in a wide price range, and if you’ve got your heart set on an expensive pair, the good news is that Amazon Prime Day is set to make them more affordable.

When is Amazon Prime Day 2022?

This year, the Amazon mega sale will take place on the 12th and 13th of July. Two days of glorious discounts, ready and waiting to be snapped up and delivered to your door.

What kind of offers are available?

In addition to the offers for the event (valid from 00:01 on July 12th until 23:59 on July 13th), there are two offers to discover on the big day.

Flash deals are instant sales, usually lasting a few hours or less. Stock is extremely limited, so you need to be quick when you find something you like at an irresistible price. Mull too long and you could lose completely.

Daily Deals give you a little more breathing room, but you’ll still need to act fast if you want some of the action. With thousands of other Prime members eyeing the same product, things tend to sell out quickly.

Do you need a Prime account to get the deals?

The sale is only open to anyone who has an Amazon Prime account, so if you haven’t signed up yet, now is the perfect time. There’s more to it than just shopping (although same-day delivery in some cities is worth it in its own right).

Prime membership gives you access to the entire Amazon behemoth, from the latest Hollywood releases and Amazon exclusive shows to Prime Video. With summer here, find your new beach read at Amazon’s library, where there are thousands of free titles to download, and save storage space on your devices by uploading photos to Amazon’s digital photo album, free for Prime members.

Then there’s the world of Prime Music audio enjoyment, which will sound even better connected with your new headphones.

The Prime subscription costs £79 as an annual fee, or you can choose to pay monthly for £7.99. If you’re still studying, you can save even more – Student Prime costs £3.99 a month, but only after an extremely generous six-month trial period. Regular buyers can also claim a free trial, but not for as long (only 30 days).

Aside from a new pair of headphones, this might be the smartest investment you’ll make all summer.

What headphone deals were there last year?

Audio players big and small jumped at the chance to offer deals to bargain-hungry Prime members. Panasonic, Bose, Marshall, Sony and Beats all cut the volume on their prices, and there were also specialty sports headphones from brands like Adidas and AfterShokz on offer too. For example, the price of the Beats Solo3 Wireless Headphones has dropped to £94.99 from its original price of £179.95.

What deals can we expect this year?

During the 48-hour sales period, headphone deals will be flying across Amazon’s digital storefront. We’re pressing our contacts for details and will update you here as soon as we hear from them – so bookmark this page and visit again closer to July 12th.

Are there live offers now?
